Howto: Move your blog to theindianstartup.com

July 7, 2009 in Howto by Kunal Jain

Do you already have a company or entrepneurship blog elsewhere? You can transfer your blog with all its content from almost any platform, host it over here for free and benefit from the exposure to our community.

To move a blog:

  1. Start a new blog at theindianstartup.com
  2. Goto your blog’s dashboard at ‘http://yourblog.theindianstartup.com/wp-admin’
  3. Click on the ‘Tools’ tab in the menu
  4. Now click on the ‘Import’ tab and you will see a list of supported platforms there
  5. Choose your existing blog platform and follow the instructions that follow.

Once you are happy with the import, please delete your old blog posts as search engines penalize duplicate content and it may confuse your readers.  You might want to leave a message on your old blog with a link to your blog at theindianstartup.com

Please email support (at) theindianstartup.com if you have any questions or need assistance with moving your blog.

Add pictures to your profile album

June 8, 2009 in Blog Features by Kunal Jain

In the past week, a new album component was added to member profiles.  We hope that members will use this to add pictures of their products, logo,  offices, events and anything else they might want to share with the rest of the community.  Your ‘Album’ can be accesed from your member profile page.

This is the first implementation of the album component.  We hope to gradually release album components for groups as well as well as adding functionality to add videos, documents etc.

Track stats using Google Analytics

May 27, 2009 in Blog Features by Kunal Jain

Blogs at theindianstartup.com are created Google Analytics ready.  All you have to do is goto your blog’s dashboard.  Goto the Settings menu and you will find a Google Analytics submenu there.  Click on this, paste your account number in the provided box and click update.  Thats it.  This means that you do not have to mess around with the code to track your statistics.

I was not planning to write this tip so soon but seeing that we already have some blogs up, I thought I would let members know that they can start tracking their statistics.  I will probably update this with a complete tutorial soon but meanwhile, if you have any questions, please contact me in the Feedback group or by PM.
